The Portland Bocce League Association is a non-profit organization that was formed to support, enhance,
and develop the sport of bocce in Portland. The League provides local competition and tournaments, assisting players of all
skill levels to reach their full potential in the game of Bocce. Any person residing within the boundaries of the Oregon or
Southwest Washington are eligible for membership in the League. Registration begins April 7, 2008 for teams that would like
to participate in the league. Teams that participated in the previous year will have first right of choosing the day of preferred
play. A team is comprised of 4 members, and at least 2 substitutes. Membership dues per team are $125.00.
The League
season is from June thru August, with play Monday thru Friday nights from 6:00 pm till 9:00 pm.
Bocce is an international
game that has been played in Italy for thousands of years.The courts can vary from 10'x50' to 13'x90'. The public courts that
were built in the city park located in the North Park Blocks at NW Glisan between 8th & Park Ave. are 12'x60'.
The
courts are open to the public and you can practice at anytime during park hours.
The balls weigh 2 pounds each &
the pallino (jack or starter ball) is 60-90mm around.
